Warehouse space is adding up

210 wordsAll Latest News, Real Estate and DevelopmentR&R Realty Group has started work on a 250,000-square-foot warehouse in Grimes that will bring its industrial developments within about a three-minute drive of each other in the city and Urbandale to 2 million square feet.
Prairie Business Park II is a companion to a 260,000-square-foot structure near the intersection of South James and Southeast 37th streets that is completely leased, with half of the space apparently destined to be used by Hy-Vee Inc. IT and creative staff. Read more
Both buildings have 32-foot ceilings, high-tech sprinkler systems and other amenities that allow distribution companies to store goods in tall stacks of pallets.
Paul Rupprecht, president of R&R’s Real Estate Advisors, pointed out that distribution companies are being joined in the cavernous structures by nontraditional users such as churches, smaller fulfillment centers and recreational and sports businesses.
Grimes isn’t lacking for warehouse space. Last week, Hubbell Realty Co. announced the fourth building at its Grimes Distribution Center. Read more
Opus Group has leased all of its 182,000-square-foot Gateway Industrial Center in Grimes. The company said Nov. 2 that it has leased 70 percent of the space at its recently completed 208,000-square-foot spec-built warehouse in Corporate Woods Industrial Park in Ankeny to Columbus, Ohio-based Power Distributors LLC.
