The first day of services was held June 1. The partnership aims to improve access to nutrition and health support for income-eligible families and will offer services including supplemental food assistance, nutrition education, breastfeeding support and referrals to community resources for pregnant and postpartum women and children under the age of five. “Our new West Des Moines location will help us connect more families with WIC services in a space that is easier to find, easier to access, and more welcoming for the families we serve,” Kristin Shields, Broadlawns WIC dietitian, said in a news release. “The additional space will also help us continue growing alongside community needs by strengthening partnerships and expanding our ability to support more families in the area.”
