Wells Fargo announces additional layoffs

114 wordsAll Latest News, Banking and Finance, Economic DevelopmentWells Fargo will lay off 29 employees in July from its Jordan Creek campus in West Des Moines, according to the Iowa Worker Adjustment and Retraining, or WARN website. The latest layoffs, which were announced this week, did not indicate in which sections Wells Fargo was eliminating jobs. So far in 2026, the San Francisco-based bank has cut 217 jobs from its West Des Moines campus. Since January 2024, Wells Fargo has eliminated 1,068 jobs in Iowa, according to WARN data. In December, Wells Fargo CEO Charlie Scharf indicated that the company would be laying off more workers in 2026 because of the use of artificial intelligence in coding and other areas.
