Wells Fargo names Howe as Midwest regional banking director

258 wordsAll Latest News, Banking and FinanceWells Fargo announced today that Laura Howe has been promoted to regional banking director for the bank’s Midwest Central region, which encompasses Iowa, western Illinois, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. She succeeds Marta Codina, who moved earlier this year to a Wells Fargo enterprise position supporting branch growth and administration. Howe began in the position on Monday.
In her new role, Howe is responsible for 99 branches with $11.7 billion in deposits and approximately 750 employees, including the 17 Wells Fargo branches in the Des Moines region. Since 2014, Howe has been district manager for the bank’s Des Moines Metro South district; she has more than 17 years of financial services experience.
She joined Wells Fargo in 2004 as a phone banker for Wells Fargo Financial and worked her way up to credit manager, senior credit manager and assistant manager. She moved to Branch Banking as a personal banker and assistant manager in 2008 and became a branch manager for multiple Iowa locations beginning in 2010.
In the community, Howe currently serves as a board member for United Way of Central Iowa and Women of Norwalk. She is a graduate of Simpson College and lives in Norwalk with her husband, Casey, and their three children.
Codina, who was recognized last year as a 2021 Woman of Influence by the Business Record, will continue to be connected in the community, serving as chair of Junior Achievement of Central Iowa, a trustee for Drake University and its Ray Center, and a board member for the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines.
