Des Moines Register: Virginia-based Tegna Inc. said today that the company plans to buy 11 local television stations, including operations in Des Moines and Davenport, for $740 million in cash. Tegna reached an agreement with Nexstar Media Group to buy stations in eight markets, including WOI/KCWI in Des Moines, which are ABC-CW affiliates, and WQAD in Davenport and Rock Island-Moline, Ill., an ABC affiliate. Tegna was formerly Gannett Co. until 2015 when the company spun off its publishing business, which took the name Gannett with it.
