Veterans Day 2016 will be celebrated as Military Appreciation Day at all branches of the YMCA of Greater Des Moines. On Nov. 11, the Y is inviting all veterans, active duty military and Guard and Reserve members to work out free of charge at any of the nine full-facility Y branches in the Des Moines area. Also, the Y and the Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs are introducing a special membership benefit for veterans, active duty military and members of the Guard and Reserve living in Polk, Warren, Dallas and Boone counties. The benefit includes a waiver of the customary $50 joiner fee, and access to the Y’s Healthy Living Center facility for the same price as a regular membership.
