10th annual Prometheus Awards announced

The awards are for organizations, innovations and people whose technological breakthroughs improve the lives and futures of people in Iowa and elsewhere.
Here are this year’s winners, announced by the Technology Association of Iowa:
- Software Company of the Year: Workiva, the Ames-based provider of cloud business data management software.
- Best mobile app: John Deere’s Mobile Data Transfer, which sends analytical data via smartphones from a customer’s farm machines to MyJohnDeere.com.
- IT Service Provider of the Year: Xpanxion LLC in Ames, which works in custom software development, testing and consulting services.
- Top Growth Company of the Year: MediRevv in Coralville, a healthcare revenue cycle management company.
- Best User of Technology: HarrisVaccines in Ames, a producer of animal vaccines.
- Chief Information Officer/Chief Technology Officer/Chief Strategy Officer of the Year: Gary Scholten, executive vice president and chief information officer at the Principal Financial Group in Des Moines.
- CEO of the Year: Chris Klitgaard of MediRevv, which added 90 jobs last year.
- Investing in Iowa Award: Matt Kinley, Pappajohn Capital Resources/Equity Dynamics Inc., awarded by LWBJ.
- Student Innovators of the Year: Scott Henry and Thomas Klein, Simpson College. Henry and Klein led the development of a phone app called Snitch’n, which allows citizens to scroll through photos of people wanted by police and to send anonymous tips directly to the officer investigating the case.
- Break Out Award: Higher Learning Technologies in Coralville, which creates mobile apps for test preparation and education.
- Outstanding Startup: Pear Deck in Iowa City, which lets teachers create interactive assessments and presentations with embedded questions.
- Life Sciences Company of the Year: NewLink Genetics in Ames, which is commercializing immunotherapies to enhance cancer treatments.
- Technology Company of the Year, small or medium: HarrisVaccines.
- Technology Company of the Year, large: Workiva.
