12th Street to close for Combat Hunger
Beginning at noon Wednesday, 12th Street between Locust Street and Grand Avenue downtown will be closed in preparation for the STAR 102.5 Combat Hunger event through Friday at 6 p.m. During the street closure there will be no on-street parking, however the sidewalk will be open to pedestrians. On Thursday and Friday, volunteers will collect non-perishable food donations and cash at 12th and Locust, which will be distributed through the Food Bank of Iowa’s 285 partner agencies. Commuters are encouraged to plan ahead before engaging in their commutes Wednesday through Friday.
