50-50 in 2020, a nonpartisan organization dedicated to getting more women elected to the Iowa Legislature, is offering supporters a new opportunity to contribute to its goal. Initiative leaders recently announced the creation of Friends of 50-50 in 2020, a membership-only initiative that helps financially support 50-50 in 2020 while also providing members with access to online newsletters, invitations to events, and connections to Iowa’s female political activists. “The most valuable benefit of being (a part of) Friends of 50-50 in 2020 is the satisfaction of helping to elect women to public office,” co-founder and former Iowa Sen. Maggie Tinsman said in a release. “The money we receive from Friends will help fund our recruitment and training efforts that are aimed at achieving gender equity for women in Iowa’s General Assembly.” Membership dues for the new initiative are $25.
