50-50 in 2020, an Iowa bipartisan organization working toward legislative gender equity in Iowa, will honor a Democrat and a Republican at its annual Equity for Women fundraiser Sept. 20 at the State Historical Building in Des Moines. U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst, a Republican who became the first woman to represent Iowa at the federal level with her election last fall, and Bonnie Campbell, a Democrat activist who was the first woman elected Iowa attorney general, will be honored at the event. Ernst will receive the 50-50 in 2020 Milestone Award, while Campbell will receive the Equity Award, given to a woman in recognition of her significant contribution to equity for women in our society. Tickets are $100 and can be ordered through the 50-50 in 2020 website.
