Sears Holdings Inc., which announced its bankruptcy Monday, said it would close 142 more Sears and Kmart stores by the end of the year. Kmart stores in Cherokee, Council Bluffs and Webster City were put on the chopping block late Monday. The only Sears store left in Iowa is in Sioux City. Two Kmart stores will continue operating in Algona and Charles City, according to a company release.
