On the strength of a 30 percent gain in its towables market, Winnebago Industries Inc. has topped $2 billion in revenue in a year for the first time. The company now makes 10 times what it did less than a decade ago. Last year, it saw a huge stock run-up fueled by the purchase of Grand Design RV.
Winnebago’s revenues for this fourth quarter were $536.2 million, up 17.9 percent from $454.9 million in the same period a year ago. Gross profit was $83.8 million, an increase of 13.9 percent. Operating income was $45.7 million, up 5.1 percent.
“Fiscal 2018 was a tremendous step forward for Winnebago Industries in all aspects — strategically, financially and culturally,” President and CEO Michael Happe said in a statement. “Strategically we made strong strides in the journey to transform ourselves into a premier, outdoor lifestyle company, especially with our fourth-quarter entry into the attractive marine market with the acquisition of Chris-Craft.
“Both our Winnebago and Grand Design-branded towables business have material momentum,” Happe added.
