Blank Children’s Hospital has received a $250,000 grant from Variety — the Children’s Charity to fund the renovation and expansion of its Pediatric Therapy Department located on the Blank Children’s campus in Des Moines. Variety last year awarded a $280,000 grant for the renovation project. When completed in spring 2019, the space will be named Variety Pediatric Therapy. The program offers physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech/language therapy services for children on an inpatient and outpatient basis. The expansion and renovation, which includes 4,200 square feet on the hospital’s first floor, will allow more patients to be served in a timely manner, hospital officials said. “We are grateful for Variety’s long history of support at Blank Children’s Hospital,” said Dr. Steve Stephenson, Blank Children’s president and chief operating officer. “Their generosity extends beyond this Pediatric Therapy project to so many areas. From the NICU and Emergency Department to the Developmental Center and Clinics, Variety and their amazing group of volunteers truly help us make a difference for patients and families.”
