Allison Smith, pictured, of WLWT in Cincinnati, a Drake University graduate, has been named KCCI’s fourth news director. In December, Smith will replace Dave Busiek, who will retire after 29 years as news director and 39 years at the station. She began her career at KCCI as a producer while working on an MBA at Iowa State University. Smith worked four years as assistant news director at WLWT, KCCI’s sister station in the Hearst Television system. Smith also worked at stations in Pittsburgh and Columbus, Ohio, winning two Emmy Awards. She is married and has two children.
