Schwartz to lead homeless nonprofit Joppa

142 wordsAll Latest News, Arts and CultureDave Schwartz, former CEO of the YMCA of Greater Des Moines, has been hired by the Des Moines nonprofit Joppa, whose mission is to help end homelessness in Central Iowa. Schwartz, a former insurance executive, led the YMCA for nearly two years before resigning in March, and prior to that led the West Des Moines Chamber. “With his business background and nonprofit experience, Dave brings a great deal of organizational excellence to Joppa,” said Joe Stevens, co-founder and chairman of Joppa. “His work in both the nonprofit and profit sectors, his leadership skills, his connectivity to the Greater Des Moines community and his passion for our mission will help move our organization to the next level.” Schwartz also has significant fundraising experience with the Dowling St. Joseph Alumni Foundation and his alma mater, the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn.
