Reynolds sets Jan. 26 special election to fill Miller-Meeks’ Iowa Senate seat
Des Moines Register: Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds has set a Jan. 26 special election to fill the vacancy left by outgoing state Sen. Mariannette Miller-Meeks. Reynolds’ announcement followed Miller-Meeks’ decision Wednesday to resign her seat, effective Saturday, so the U.S. House of Representatives can provisionally seat her on Sunday as the representative from Iowa’s U.S. House District 2. Miller-Meeks, a Republican, has two years remaining on her four-year term. She had delayed her decision to resign the seat until late December because of a tight election with Democrat Rita Hart that has included a lengthy recount process and an appeal to the U.S. House of Representatives.
