Axios Des Moines: Des Moines is resurrecting an effort to ban urban roosters because of ongoing noise complaints. An effort in 2018 was derailed by urban farmers who packed City Hall to speak in favor of their feathered friends. Council members agreed to relaunch the effort Monday. A formal proposal is expected in coming weeks. “It was the voices of the minority [in 2018] because I can tell you that the residents that live in Ward 2 that I hear from are real tired of hearing roosters day and night,” Councilperson Linda Westergaard said during a council workshop.
