The Street Collective in Des Moines will host a monthlong event in June called “Streets to Eats” to highlight the value of walking, biking and riding DART while promoting local restaurants. The premise is simple: Customers receive a 10% discount if they arrive by walking, biking, or by using DART or BCycle. Additionally, participating restaurants will be offered a 50% discount on a Street Collective business membership, which includes social media highlight pieces, earned media exposure and logo placement on their website, and other benefits. The organization reaches more than 15,000 people through social media channels and its newsletter, and many more through its community events and programs. “This is a great opportunity for restaurants to engage in a community event while promoting active transportation and connecting our network to your business,” said Jeremy Lewis, executive director of the Street Collective. Streets to Eats expands on a 2020 event called “Bike to Bites” in which customers who biked to pick up meals received various discounts from 15 participating downtown restaurants. With Streets to Eats, the Street Collective is including all forms of active transportation, while also expanding the event by inviting restaurants from all over Greater Des Moines to participate. For more information, visit the Streets to Eats page on the Street Collective website.
