Norwalk buys 177 acres for new park

122 wordsAll Latest News, Arts and Culture, Government Policy and LawThe city of Norwalk has purchased 177 acres on the northwest corner of Elk Horn Street and Iowa Highway 28 that will be a park called Serenity Woods. A portion of the North River runs through the middle of the park. Norwalk used $300,000 in local option sales and service tax funds to pay for the land. The park is not yet open to the public. The city’s parks and recreation department is working to make the park accessible and to provide parking. When open, the park will be able to be used for hiking and other outdoor activities.
