The track, which opened in 2006, has been the home for 15 IndyCar races, including one at least every year from 2007 to 2020. The 2021 season became the exception after NASCAR, which owns the track, couldn’t come to a financial agreement with IndyCar. It was a devastating blow for the track and the city of Newton.
