The owners of the Beaverdale ice cream stand submitted the proposal after the sign was hit by a car last October, causing it to topple. A city ordinance that no longer allowed pole signs in the area prevented the owners from reinstalling the sign. Although the ordinance had originally grandfathered in existing signs as an exception, it did not allow for the reinstallation of signs that were damaged.
