Former Urbandale insurance agent convicted of felony fraud
A former insurance agent who had worked in Urbandale has been convicted of a felony following an insurance fraud investigation by the Iowa Insurance Division. Joy Marie Heldt, 48, of Madrid was convicted of fraudulent submissions to an insurer, a Class D felony. An investigation that began in March 2018 concluded that Heldt, while acting as an insurance agent, used the identifying information of another individual to complete an individual term life insurance application. Her insurance license was permanently revoked on March 28, 2018, and she was ordered to immediately cease and desist from engaging in the practice of insurance in this state. On Jan. 10, Heldt received a deferred judgment and two years’ probation, and was ordered to pay a fine of $750, according to a release from the Iowa Insurance Division.
