The West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce and the city of West Des Moines are joining together to announce the inaugural Raccoon River Rally, a family-friendly fall festival scheduled for Oct. 2. The festival is scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. at Raccoon River Park. According to a news release, scheduled events include a morning bike ride, live music, cardboard boat races, a vendor fair, a fun zone for children, a beer tent featuring craft beer from Kinship Brewing Co., and food trucks. The festival is being presented by Google Fiber, and a portion of sponsorship proceeds will benefit the Racoon River Pedestrian Bridge project that will tie together Walnut Woods State Park and Brown’s Woods with Raccoon River Park. According to the release, the Great Outdoors Foundation is supporting the effort to help fundraise and donations can be made on-site the day of the festival.
