The 2021 Principal Charity Classic raised a record $7.3 million for children’s charities in Iowa, surpassing the previous record of $6.7 million set in 2020. The annual PGA Tour Champions event in Des Moines has raised more than $37 million for children’s charities since 2007 when Principal Financial Group became the title sponsor. Money raised from the tournament benefits organizations that provide support to Iowa children in the areas of education and culture, financial security and stability, and health and wellness. In related news, Ken McCullum, Principal Financial’s senior vice president and chief risk officer, was appointed chairperson of the Principal Charity Classic board. The 2022 Classic will be held June 1-5 at the Wakonda Club in Des Moines.
