The Polk County Board of Supervisors, the city of Des Moines, Operation Downtown, the Historic Court District Association and Court Avenue business owners have renewed agreements first reached in 2016 with the intent of ensuring safety in the Court Avenue district of downtown Des Moines, according to a release. The new agreements include funding commitments from the county, city and Operation Downtown for increased police presence and lighting from the Polk County Board of Supervisors. The Historic Court District Association will also remain a partner in working with private business owners on Court Avenue to contribute funding that will allow these safety measures to remain in place for another three years. A security system for the area was donated three years ago by Electronic Engineering.
