Area clubs Soccer West and Soccer South are merging to become a new nonprofit, Des Moines Soccer Club, launching for the fall 2020 season, the club said in a statement. This merged club will combine 700 members of West and South to become the largest soccer club representing the city of Des Moines. NCP Inc., a Des Moines-based investment banking firm focused on mergers and acquisitions, will donate $100,000 to the Des Moines Soccer Club; at least $75,000 of the gift will directly support children’s participation regardless of playing level and financial ability. Remaining funds have been earmarked for flood mitigation efforts at the Aliber Fields location.
