700 attend 33rd annual Human Rights Symposium
Seven hundred participants registered to attend the annual Human Rights Symposium downtown, which was held Wednesday by the Des Moines Civil & Human Rights Commission, the commission announced. This year’s symposium, the 33rd annual event, was themed “Move Passion to Progress,” highlighting the goal of helping people move beyond emotions toward sustainable community progress. This year’s keynote speaker was Richie Reseda from the CNN documentary “A Feminist in Cell Block Y.”
