I recently attended a Tomorrow Plan Speaker Series event hosted by DART and the Des Moines Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, with a main topic on transportation and how it affects different socioeconomic classes in metropolitan areas. One of the many topics raised was on how ride hailing services can push out regional transit. In theory, the two could work collaboratively to fill the needs for all individuals in the metropolitan area. This piece by CNN Business says Uber is backing off from competing with public transit.
