Plans move forward for outdoor storage facility in West Des Moines

Plans to develop South Branch Business Park on the southwest corner of Southeast Army Post Road and Southeast 42nd Street in West Des Moines received a boost this week with approval from the Plan and Zoning Commission to change a portion of the site’s land use designation. SBBP JV21 LLC, managed by Ryan Wiederstein, who owns WB Realty Co., is developing the 41-acre business park and has told city officials that a potential user is interested in providing outdoor storage for recreational and other vehicles as well as a small storage facility. Wiederstein has asked that 12 acres of the business park be designated as general industrial land use. The remainder would continue to be designated as business park. The proposed business park will be visible from nearby highways and residences. Wiederstein has agreed to provide landscaping and other elements to screen the outdoor storage area from the view of passers-by. The commission approved changing the land designation. The issue now goes before the City Council.
