The Greater Des Moines Rotary Multi-Club Committee plans a May 29 event at the West Des Moines Hilton Garden Inn to fight hunger. “Focusing the Lens on Hunger in Central Iowa,” part of the Rotary’s Civitas forum series, will feature a keynote address from the Rev. Sarai Rice, executive director of the Des Moines Area Religious Council. A panel will feature teacher Kim Alowitz of West Des Moines’ Hillside Elementary School; Eat Greater Des Moines Executive Director Aubrey Alvarez; Kathy Sibbel, president of the Ankeny Service Center; and Brad Waller, assistant vice president of community relations at Hy-Vee. Nonprofit organizations will staff booths. Tickets are $20 for the event, which starts at 4:30 p.m. Proceeds will go to nonprofit agencies working to address hunger.
