Gov. Kim Reynolds today announced the appointment of Jim Kurtenbach as director of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services, effective July 1. Kurtenbach, a former state representative, has been an associate professor at Iowa State University for nearly 28 years and was ISU’s chief information officer for three years. “Appointing Jim to this vital position is another important step in assembling a proven team to carry out my priorities for Iowa. He will do an outstanding job at the department,” Reynolds said in a press release. “His leadership, depth of experience and distinguished career in public service will greatly benefit Iowans.” Kurtenbach fills the vacancy left after the Iowa Senate adjourned earlier this year without reappointing Janet Phipps Burkhead as agency director. Paul Trombino, former Iowa Department of Transportation director, has filled the post on an interim basis since May 21.
