State lawmakers thought this was a good idea and approve the plates this past session, sometime between balancing the budget and allowing stun guns on college campuses. Despite studies that show white-on-black type is harder to read, perhaps lawmakers thought the lack of art in the background would make it easier for police to read the plates.
