MercyOne launches therapy and support program for MS patients
MercyOne Ruan Neurology Care and MercyOne Des Moines Riverside Rehabilitation have launched MS Wellness Program: Empowering a Healthy Life, a day program for those living with multiple sclerosis. The program seeks to improve patients’ quality of life by providing a safe environment for physical activity, psychological support from peers and medical professionals, social activities and health education for the participant and their family. The community-based 12-week program is offered at MercyOne Health and Fitness Center in Clive each Wednesday. The program staff includes a nurse coordinator and physical, occupational and speech therapists. Funding for the program was provided by Annie’s Ride and the MARS Foundation. Those with MS who are interested in enrolling in the program should contact their provider for a referral and an evaluation.
