Orchard Place has assumed responsibility for continuing a longtime award program from the former Polk County C.A.N. (Child Abuse and Neglect) Prevention Council, which disbanded recently, according to a post on Blank Children’s Hospital website. Orchard Place has opened a call for nominations for the 2019 Michelle A. Moore Award of Distinction. The children’s mental health services provider has also accepted C.A.N.’s request to continue the council’s parent education classes. The C.A.N. Prevention Council has presented the annual award to an outstanding advocate of children and families since 2000. Instituted as the “Compassion for Families Award,” the award was renamed in 2003 in honor of the late Michelle A. Moore and her lifelong work as a child advocate. Nominations are due Oct. 4; for a nomination form, click here.
