Kim Reynolds is directing a state agency to draft a new policy for state employees who volunteer outside of government during the workday, reports Radio Iowa. The proposed policy may start by granting up to eight hours of paid time off a year for state workers who volunteer; other states vary on what they offer employees. “It’s important to me to encourage our hardworking state employees to participate in volunteer activities similar to other employees across Iowa with volunteer practices,” Reynolds said.
