The 150,000-square-foot facility, which processes eggs and precooked egg products, is anticipated to add 168 jobs to Norwalk within its first two years and is located at Iowa’s first Certified Industrial Site operating at full business capacity, the company said in a news release. “We are excited to open our doors and officially join the Norwalk community,” said Mark Westphal, president of Michael Foods. “Our new neighbors have been great to work with throughout the development process. We chose Norwalk for its vibrant and energetic community as well as its proximity to our supply chain; no other location could match everything Norwalk has to offer.” Last month, the company was recognized as an Economic Impact Award winner by the Greater Des Moines Partnership and the Business Record. Norwalk will serve as the company’s 15th egg processing plant, primarily supporting higher production of egg patties, omelets, frittatas and other products.
