The charges against Roberts stem from an investigation that began in March. According to criminal complaints filed by the Fraud Bureau, it is alleged that Roberts misrepresented and concealed a material fact regarding an insurance plan. Roberts allegedly enrolled a disabled victim with diminished mental and physical capacity in an insurance policy he could not consent to purchase. The victim’s legal guardians were unaware of, and did not approve or authorize, a change to the victim’s health care coverage. On Oct. 26 Roberts was booked into the Polk County Jail and was later released after posting a $5,000 bond.
