Amazon.com continues to be mum about whether it is opening a delivery station in Grimes. But the online retail giant isn’t keeping secret that it’s hiring people to work in Grimes.

Today, Amazon posted a human resources  job that would be located in Grimes. The person hired would “support our Amazon Delivery Stations.”

Last week, the Business Record reported that Amazon was hiring logistics and delivery managers and that all of the positions would be located in Grimes. While Amazon officials declined to comment, Marc Wulfraat, president of MWPVL International Inc. said the company is “definitely preparing for a delivery station.” Wulfraat, a logistics and distribution expert, estimated the Grimes facility could hire up to 500 people.

Amazon is also likely building a 780,000-square-foot fulfillment center on a site in Bondurant located east of U.S. Highway 65 and north of Northeast 62nd Avenue. While the retailer has not confirmed that it is behind the project, a development firm it has worked with in the past recently bought 169 acres at the site for $6.7 million.

Customer orders are filled and packaged at fulfillment centers. Packages headed to Des Moines-area addresses will likely be trucked to the Grimes delivery station before putting on vans and delivered to homes and businesses.
