In an order issued Wednesday, the Iowa Court of Appeals ruled that the county’s board of assessors overvalued the insurance company’s two downtown Des Moines buildings in 2017 by a combined $17.5 million. Polk County Assessor Randy Ripperger said Nationwide could either ask for a refund or receive a credit on future property tax bills.
