The IRS is seeking to fill 150 seasonal positions at the West Des Moines call center, which a regional spokesman, Christopher Miller, said is the first instance of the center hiring seasonal employees in addition to permanent positions. The positions are part of increased hiring by the IRS across 19 call centers nationwide. The seasonal workers will be focused on a specialized call line for taxpayers who receive a balance due notice for unpaid taxes — taxpayers at the earliest stages of the IRS collection process. Miller said the IRS is also currently onboarding 70 additional full-time positions that were recently hired for for the West Des Moines office, a figure that nearly doubles the permanent staffing of that call center. Nationally, the agency’s Small Business/Self-Employed division began adding about 3,200 additional employees last summer. The positions open locally can be found at this link.
