The Polk County Board of Supervisors is looking for residents to serve on various boards and commissions. The county is looking for property owners, especially agricultural land owners, to serve on its condemnation compensation commission. The commission evaluates and recommends a fair market value for private property that is being condemned to make room for public improvements that are authorized by a local government. The Board of Supervisors appoints no fewer than 28 residents for one-year terms. One-fourth of the members are owner/operators of agricultural property, one-fourth are owners of city property, one-fourth are licensed real estate brokers and one-fourth are knowledgeable of property values. The chief judge selects six people from the list who constitute a commission to assess the damages to all property by the applicant.
