Gov. Kim Reynolds announced Tuesday the appointment of Todd Jacobus as the executive director of the Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs and commandant of the Iowa Veterans Home. His appointment is effective Nov. 7 and is subject to Senate confirmation. Jacobus is a retired colonel of the United States Army and the Iowa Army National Guard, serving 33 years and taking part in three overseas missions. He served for six years on the Iowa Commission of Veterans Affairs, including two years as chair. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in arts and English and a secondary education teaching endorsement from the University of Iowa. He received his master’s degree in public administration from Drake University and is a Senior Service College Fellow with the International Security Studies Program at Tufts University. “I look forward to working with the outstanding leadership team and staff, elected officials, the Iowa Commission of Veterans Affairs, veterans organizations and advocacy groups, and the community of Marshalltown as we work together to provide the very best support network for fellow Iowa Veterans. It’s an honor to serve,” Jacobus said.
