Des Moines Public Library business book pick: “Noise: A Flaw in Human Judgment” by Daniel Kahneman, Olivier Sibony, and Cass R. Sunstein.
Why you should read it: This book, co-written by the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of “Thinking, Fast and Slow,” was called a “tour de force” by the New York Times. The book explores why and how “noise” (explained as a chance variability in judgments) leads people to make bad decisions, and reflects on what we can do to address this. The authors detail detrimental effects in everything from medicine to law to economics and more.
