The Iowa Insurance Division on Monday issued a liquidation notice for CoOportunity Health that outlines the procedures that will be used for liquidating the failed health insurer’s assets and processing claims to creditors. In an order signed Monday by Chief District Judge Arthur Gamble, Iowa Insurance Commissioner Nick Gerhart was appointed as liquidator for the assets of the West Des Moines-based health insurance cooperative. The liquidator and his special deputy are authorized to deal with the property, business and affairs of CoOportunity for the benefit of CoOportunity’s policyholders and creditors and to take any and all necessary actions to effectuate an orderly and timely liquidation, according to the order. All claims against CoOportunity’s assets must be made by filing a claim with the liquidator or in a proceeding brought in the liquidation court. The deadline for filing proofs of claim is Dec. 15. A copy of the liquidation order and FAQs are available on the Iowa Insurance Division website.
