AIB College of Business last week donated $50,000 to establish the Monroe Colston Scholarship Fund at the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines. This fund will benefit needy Des Moines high school students of diverse ethnic backgrounds who want to pursue higher education at two- or four-year regionally accredited colleges or universities. Colston, who died in 2011, was a civil rights leader in Des Moines. He served as vice president and secretary of the Greater Des Moines Chamber of Commerce Federation and retired as the first president of the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines.
