Factory orders dropped for sixth consecutive month in January
New orders for factory goods fell in January, posting their sixth straight monthly decline, according to the U.S. Commerce Department, Reuters reported. Orders slipped 0.2 percent after a revised 3.5 percent decline in December. The department also said orders for nondefense capital goods excluding aircraft – seen as a measure of business confidence and spending plans – rose 0.5 percent instead of the 0.6 percent advance reported last month.
