Greater Des Moines is one of four U.S. markets chosen for the Careers on Course Program for the First Tee Teens. The program provides hands-on experience and leadership skills for those preparing for a career in golf course management. The program will be offered in Greater Dallas, Greater Des Moines, the Triangle area of North Carolina and San Diego by The First Tee, a nonprofit youth organization which uses golf as a platform to teach life and leadership skills that provide character education programs for youths. The experience is backed by Deere & Co.’s five-year, $1 million commitment to the organization’s programs. Wakonda Club and The First Tee of Greater Des Moines are local organizers.
