Iowa Finance Authority names leading mortgage lenders

The Iowa Finance Authority has named the leading lenders that used its programs last year to advance homeownership, according to a release. Iowa Bankers Mortgage Corp. was named “top lender” for issuing $24.8 million in loans to 300 home buyers. Wells Fargo & Co. was named “gold” lender for issuing $15.9 million in loans to 167 home buyers. “Silver” lenders were U.S. Bank, which issued $8.7 million in loans to 92 home buyers, and First American Bank in Clive, which issued $8.4 million in loans to 76 home buyers.”Bronze” lenders were Great Western Bank in Ames, which issued $6.8 million in loans to 66 home buyers, and American National Bank in Council Bluffs, which issued $5 million in loans to 58 home buyers. The Iowa Finance Authority offers affordable mortgage and down payment assistance through a network of lenders. In 2014, local lenders helped more than 1,500 Iowans buy a home through more than $143 million in affordable mortgages.
