Delta Dental of Iowa today announced a new program designed to help its employees make healthy choices at work. On Friday, the insurer unveiled its “Bike at Work” program, in which it is making six “Delta Dental-green” bicycles available to its employees for use during breaks and lunch hours. The bikes were purchased from the Des Moines Bicycle Collective, which will provide Delta Dental of Iowa with tire pumps and patch kits and perform regular maintenance for the bicycles. Delta Dental employees will receive discounts on the purchase of bike helmets, and the summer wellness programming at the company will focus on bike safety. “As a health and wellness company, I’m proud that we can take the lead in the metro on this initiative,” said Delta Dental of Iowa CEO Jeff Russell. “I’m looking forward to joining my colleagues in taking a bike ride to lunch now and then.”
