The Des Moines City Council will vote Monday on the appointment of former city finance director and deputy city manager Allen McKinley to the Iowa Events Center Hotel Corp., the nonprofit group that will own the proposed convention center hotel at Fifth Avenue and Park Street. The board is to have seven members, with two appointed by the City Council and five by the Polk County Board of Supervisors, which named Knapp Properties Inc. President and CEO Gerry Neugent as the founding director and, to date, the only member of the board. McKinley retired in 2012 after 30 years with the city. Meanwhile, the Board of Supervisors could vote May 19 on its final four appointments to the IEC Hotel Corp.
